What yeast infection medicine to get from the store?

I have a yeast infection and I need to get some medicine. I have to get something I can get at the store though since I don’t have insurance and can’t afford to go to a doctor. I’ve had a yeast infection once in the past, like three years ago, but I used medicine from the doctor’s so I’ve never bought any at the store before, I don’t know what kind is the best. What should I get?
Ps. I always hear that if it’s someone’s initially yeast infection to always go to the doc initially, that store stuff is for persons who’ve had them before. I’m just curious, why’s it so terrible for someone who has their initially infection to use store stuff if they know they have one?

When I had one before in the past, I didn’t reckon it was a yeast infection, I thought it was BV since the discharge wasn’t cottage cheese like…but the doc said it was a yeast infection and she would know more than me, right, and gave me one pill that I swallowed then it cleared up. But this time around the discharge is cottage cheese like..
Hmm I already said I can’t afford to go to a doctor, and that I do know this is a yeast infection, but thanks for the helpful information anyways
